The latest addition to our family
After what feels like a life time of waiting we have finally added our tiny kittens to our family. They are the most adorable kittens we have every seen and so, so small. When they arrived at our home they were just six weeks old and even now ten days later they still look small.
They are brother and sister and come from a mum who was a stray cat and one day just arrived in a ladies kitchen and had her babies there and then. We were told about the kittens shortly after they were born so it felt like we were waiting forever to be able to take them home.
When we did though, we didn’t tell our eight year old son Kyle as we wanted it to be a surprise. So his Daddy walked through the door with a little cat carrier with two beatiful kittens inside it. I don’t think I have even seen my son this excitied at Christmas time. We sat on the floor together letting the kittens sniff our scent so that they could get used to us as soon as possible.
They soon had a wonder around their new home and the hallways are quite long so their little legs were tired before long. As they settled in we had a bed set up for them which in the armchair next to me during the day and down by the side of our bed at night.
As long as they are happy with their bed at night they sleep perfectly and never complain about anything.
After ten days with our babies which we have called Smokey for the boy and Peppa for the girl we have seen their personalities shine through. For example Peppa is obsessed with wires and is very idependent and doesn’t want stroking very much. However Smokey loves a cuddle and is obsessed with food like I have never seen before. He will go absolutely crazy when you are cooking and even an hour after you have eaten if he can smell even a little scent of your dinner he will climb all over you.
Having kittens in our life has brought so much joy to our lives and we totally recommend you do the same. There are many strays in the Algarve that each need homing – can you offer a nice home for one or two like we have?
