The Tolls Finally Arrive In The Algarve
So after lot of debate the tolls have finally arrived in the Algarve. The tolls officially started on December 8th. We decided that yes we were going to get one of these devices because we will not be using the A22 for business.
We would only use the A22 for pleasure so the costs will not be that much for us. Another benefit of having our business online. My husband said we will have to get this sorted and he said he would sort it out.

Homemade Sardine Pate
Sardine pate is something of a Portuguese speciality and it is absolutely delicious. Th funny thing about Sardine pate is that it looks pretty uninspiring but when you taste it you really do realise that looks aren’t everything.
In Portugal, sardine pate is one of the small dishes that is served before a meal with olives and a lovely bread which is unique to Portugal. If you are like me though, theses petisco plates as they are often called are so beautiful that I end up eating so much that I am full for the main course.
The Portuguese Wine
Even if you have never visited Portugal you will most probably have sampled the delights of the Portuguese wine because it is now being stocked all over the world due to the fact that it really is very good indeed.
Many of the wine experts who can often be quite snobby with regards to recommending wines that are not from the more popular regions are extremely enthusiastic about the Portuguese wine and it is gaining in popularity all of the time.

Algarve Food And Wine
Many people will associate the Algarve with beautiful scenery and glorious sunny weather and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that but for me, even though I love the fantastic climate, the Algarve is all about the food and wine that is readily available.
Portugal, and the Algarve in particular is renowned for the glorious food and the wines that are available always seem to compliment the food perfectly, and there is nothing more enjoyable than sitting in a beautiful restaurant with views out to the sea, enjoying a fantastic meal.
The End Of The Tourism Season, Can The Algarve Trade Cope Over Winter?
There is no getting away from the fact that Portugal is in dire financial straits at the moment and there is a great deal of worry amongst so many of the population. From normal residents who are worried sick about how the financial austerity cuts are going to affect them, to the traders who are finding that people just don’t have the money to spend as they did only a few short years ago.

The Algarve Still Has My Heart More Than Two Years On
This week it will be two and a half years since I first arrived for my new life in the Algarve. I never wore any rose tinted glasses as I expected it to be hard work which is probably the reason that I still enjoy living here now!
Because sure, it still has its problems – especially if it involves any form filling or visiting government buildings but on the whole it is a fantastic life to have.

The unpredictable strike system in the Algarve
When you move to a new country you always expect things to be different to the country that you have been used to for so long. However you expect the problems that you had in the country that you leave behind to dissolve and we live in this fairytale world that everything is simply going to be perfect.
When we left England we had got sick to death of all the different strike actions that were taking place in our local area especially when it came to our services been disrupted including the local schools when we had to find alternative care facilities when our children had unexpected days off.
