A Weekend break In Barcelona

So after a hectic year last year my parents offered to look after are son if we wanted to go away just by ourselves for along weekend. We jumped at the chance as we have not had more than a night away from our son in 10 years.

We decided to go to Barcelona easy we thought. It turns out not too many planes fly out of Faro to international destinations so we had to travel up to Lisbon. My husband was not too happy as he had never driven up to Lisbon.

Buying A New Laptop In The Algarve

We have lived over here in the Algarve for about 3 and a half years now and we decided some time ago we would get anything electrical from here. Yes they are more expensive but with are freesat box from England we had problems with it.

The electric supply over here damaged the box so it didn’t work. We decided then not to risk getting anything new from the UK. And you also get generally a longer guarantee of 2 years on most things over here. But saying that we have an old English laptop which has not had any problems with charging it from are electric here.

The Tolls Finally Arrive In The Algarve

So after lot of debate the tolls have finally arrived in the Algarve. The tolls officially started on December 8th. We decided that yes we were going to get one of these devices because we will not be using the A22 for business.

We would only use the A22 for pleasure so the costs will not be that much for us. Another benefit of having our business online. My husband said we will have to get this sorted and he said he would sort it out.

Swimming With The dolphins At Zoo Marine, Algarve

It was my 35th birthday a month ago and my wife decided it was going to be a good idea to buy a ticket for me to swim with the dolphins. I was thrilled with the idea but also abit sceptical about it as well.

When we got down to Zoo marine we had to go in the entrance for the Dolphin emotions experience where the staff member went through safety regulations and what you are aloud to wear and what you are not.

Algarve Food And Wine

Many people will associate the Algarve with beautiful scenery and glorious sunny weather and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that but for me, even though I love the fantastic climate, the Algarve is all about the food and wine that is readily available.

Portugal, and the Algarve in particular is renowned for the glorious food and the wines that are available always seem to compliment the food perfectly, and there is nothing more enjoyable than sitting in a beautiful restaurant with views out to the sea, enjoying a fantastic meal.

The End Of The Tourism Season, Can The Algarve Trade Cope Over Winter?

There is no getting away from the fact that Portugal is in dire financial straits at the moment and there is a great deal of worry amongst so many of the population. From normal residents who are worried sick about how the financial austerity cuts are going to affect them, to the traders who are finding that people just don’t have the money to spend as they did only a few short years ago.

Aqua Portimao: Western Algarves Largest Shopping Centre

After some thought we as a family decided to take a trip to the brand new shopping centre in Portimao. Aqua Portimao is billed as the largest shopping centre in the western Algarve.

So with some excitement we decided to set of on the first Sunday after the shopping centre had opened to have a good look around and see exactly what the shopping centre had to offer.

The centre is quite easy to find just of the N125 and head straight into Portimao then stay on your right hand side which brings you up to a roundabout. Then the centre is well sign posted from there.

A Family day out to Spain

Two weekends ago I had a lovely day out with my mum and dad, my husband and our son. My mum and dad are one of many that travel around europe in their RV and it was our last chance to spend time with them before they headed to Spain and France. The next time we will be together will no doubt be at the end of the summer when it is not too hot for them in the Algarve.

So we drove from Silves to visit them at Vila Real de Santo Antonio which is right at the border with Spain. They were wild camping directly at the river and it was very beautiful.
