English Supermarket Vs Asda – The Ultimate Challenge

As promised I am delivering you the results of my experiment where I have swapped my local English supermarket in the Algarve for shopping direct from Asda in England. Plus the costs involved on having my goods shipped to the Algarve and the petrol costs involved in collecting it.

If this works out cheaper I will gladly do it again at a future date, but for this first time I placed a relatively small order just to give it a test run. I am not one to shop every week in the English supermarket but I do visit them every 4-6 weeks and it often feels rather expensive for the few bags that I end up leaving with.

My love for English Television

One of things that I realised I was going to miss the most after my move to Portugal was Television. I don’t sit there watching it all day every day but still enjoy by daily fix. A probably watch about two or three hours a day during the week and about an hour over the weekend.

I love watching English television and my favourite programs include Coronation Street, GMTV, Eastenders and The Bill. When I first decided to move out to Portugal I was very willing to sacrifice these in exchange for a new life living in the sun. But then I realised I could have the best of both worlds without the hefty television licence that all television viewers are expected to pay in England.
