Eating Out

Restaurante Trindade Lagos – Algarve Restaurant Review

"Steak on the stone"This is one of those restaurants that we have been meaning to visit for some time but have not quite got around to it.

My mum and dad are on holiday here and are always telling us about new restaurants they have visited and how nice it has been so we were expecting great things with Restaurante Trindade.

We went just the five of us – Mum, Dad, Me, Dominic and Kyle. When you saw it from the outside it just looks like a scruffy looking café and when you see the lovely seating inside you can’t believe it is the same place.

La Dolce Vita Buffet Praia Da Rocha – Algarve Restaurant Review

You probably think we have run out of buffets to write restaurant reviews on but you are wrong! This one has been on our “to do” list for sometime now but has always escaped through the net as we are rarely in the Praia Da Rocha area.

We decided though to make our way to this particular buffet because of the amount of positive reviews we have read. The biggest problem we have found with buffets though is that the quality of the service can differ by quite a lot depending on the time of day that you visit the buffet. At really quiet times the food can be sat around for too long and at busy times you can’t hear yourself speak. The benefit of the busy times is that food is constantly being topped up so there is no risk to food been left out for too long.

Adega Do Papagaio – Algarve Restaurant Review

My mum originally pointed me in the direction of Adega Do Papagaio in Espiche. It was during a girly evening in with some lovely Portuguese white wine that she suggested going there for a meal in the near future.

Well we never quite made it there together so we went there on our own last weekend for Saturday lunch.

It is known to many in theAlgarveas the Parrot restaurant and it was up a side street with a parrot outside so it is easily spotted.

I love the idea with Portugal restaurants were they can have just a lovely simple menu and how well it works.

Gusto – Algarve Restaurant Review

With the recent rises in costs for restaurant owners we have found that a lot of our favourite restaurants have felt the pinch a bit too much and have closed down, leaving us with a lack of restaurants to eat at on a regular basis.

Though I am not surprised because during a recession it is always the luxuries in life that we give up first and eating out certainly falls under this category.

Because we live in Silves we often end up at Algarve shopping as I discussed in an earlier post that you can read by clicking here. And we have made it our mission to go a little further to find some restaurants that we love.

Rodizio Grill Brazil – Restaurante Palmerias Review

"Rodizio Grill Brazil"I have recently enjoyed my second trip to the Rodizio Grill Brazil that is located at Camping Turiscampo at Espiche. It is a wonderful campsite and the restaurant on site is fantastic.

I have had the buffet on several occasions but this is only my second chance to re-test the Brazilian. I love the Brazilian that you get at a selection of restaurants in the Algarve but this one has to be my personal favourite. Its just a shame that it is more than 30 minutes away from where we live otherwise we would go much more often.

Algarve Restaurants: Chimarrao, Algarve Shopping

Last week we had the great pleasure of trying out Chimarrao restaurant at Algarve Shopping in Guia. It is one of those restaurants that never looks busy. In fact it always looks rather quiet when we go past and to me this is a tell tale sign that the restaurant is not up to scratch.

So after three years of regularly visiting Algarve Shopping and walking past it we finally went in for a meal.

Algarve Restaurants: Kai Fu Chinese Buffet Aqua Portimao

"Kai Fu Chinese Buffet Aqua Portimao"I remember googling for Chinese buffets in the Algarve when we first moved here and being upset over the lack of them. The only ones that seemed to be available in our region of the Algarve where either right by the seafront so parking would be a nightmare or they only offered the buffet in the evening.

Then I discovered the one at the Algarve Shopping and horrible doesn’t even come close. The food was dreadful especially the sweet and sour pork and considering the fact that other buffets are available in the shopping centre they have certainly got in wrong in the fact that you can only fill up your plate once.

Algarve Restaurants: Churrasqueira Valdemar Silves

Churrasqueira Valdemar in Silves certainly has my heart and to be honest I simply can’t resist their wonderful pri pri chicken that like many other expats in the area I am a regular.

Many people ask me where to go for the best pri pri chicken in the Algarve and I always point them in the direct of this simple main road restaurant.

It is beautifully positions in the heart of Silves across the road from the beautiful river and you can simply watch the world go round as you tuck into the amazing chicken.

Algarve Restaurants: Happy Family Algarve Shopping

Every time that we visit Algarve Shopping we always walk past Happy Family on our way to whichever restaurant or fast food outlet that we are planning on eating at. The reason why we usually bypassed it is because we thought that all they served was sushi and even though I am a big fan of it the rest of the family isn’t.

We had the option to have a look around recently and decided to come back and have a meal when we were next in Algarve Shopping.
